LIFE
by David Kimel
Life is a flight of stairs
Spinning around in circle,
Evolving, year after year,
In spiral to other level,
And a different stage,
Like a Babylonian tower
Rising to an ever-foggy top.
On this spiral,
My weak feet are climbing
Steadily, tiredly,
On the growing path,
Pulling an already heavy, expandable,
Load of memories, regrets
And irremovable mistakes.
Ahead, steamy clouds become
Closer and inscrutable.
Behind, insignificant creatures
Swarm like ants, fast reeling
On a Lilliputian stage
I had the lead part.
