LAST DAYS OF SUMER - by Ellen Ni Bheachain

LAST  DAYS  OF  SUMER

by Ellen Ni Bheachain

Whatever the way the Summer days end,
In the type of Summer is how it has been,
Whether a good one or bad one,
The last days of Summer,
Can be sad or happy endings,
As each season ends,

The Summer could have been,
Miserable yet,
Sun scorching for some every day,
And sunlight shining on all our faces,
It is how it is,
Out there where all is seen,
In,
Summer days of fun,
Summer days of love,
Summer days of seeing,
Summer days of been,
Summer days sunshine in our hearts,
And out and about where Summertime is,

And when Summer came and went?
With a mundane feeling that it left?
Was the last days of Summer,
With another season beginning,
The fall or Autumn as we know it,
Where the ending of one season shows,
By the decaying of it,
When Autumn Fall begins,

Where we all wrap up,
And feel snuggled in warm sweaters,
Stopping in cafes for warm drinks and meetups,
Musing over the Summer days,
Recapping of Summer memories,
Swapping stories as we sip our drinks,

As fall becomes full Autumn,
Warm hats and gloves,
With rustling leaves beneath our feet,
As we walk through the park,
And see,
The Summer leaves turn,
To autumn shades,
Of golden yellow and bronze,
Taking in,
The last days of Summer,

Reflecting,
And remember in the falls of Autumn's,
Are the signs of Summer,
That has ended,
And mingling with all that falls,
From the Summer ending,
To autumn beginnings,
Is the decaying of Summer,
Gong till next year,
Until it will begin again,

Yet,
In between,
There's,
Autumn,
Winter,
Spring,
Until again,
Summer appears with all in bloom again.

A DAY AT THE BEACH - by Marie Matheny

A  DAY  AT  THE  BEACH

by  Marie  Matheny

The sun and sand go hand in hand.
The sound of constant waves -
There's a smell of salt in the air.
The ocean is seen through a haze.

The parents bring their children
And watch them play in the sand.
They help them jump the waves
By holding little hands.

The teens exude vitality and youth.
They know they're coming of age.
They strut and prance and dance around
As if they were on stage.

Lovers strolling hand in hand
Enjoy their day of sun and sand.
They seem to think they're all alone -
The crowded beach on which they roam.

The old move slow and steady
Thinking it's no notion.
This could be the last time
They get to see the ocean.

The seagulls glide in circles.
It seems without a care,
But really they are searching
A crumb to catch mid-air.

Scattered on the beach
Are castles made of sand.
Some are small and messy -
Others big and grand.

If one is lucky,
While looking out to sea
They may spot some dolphins
Swimming gracefully.

A day at the beach is not complete
Without catching the perfect wave
Or gathering shells along the shore -
Souvenirs of a perfect day...

SUMMER - by James G.

SUMMER

by James  G.

Summer is warm and full of life
The birds are singing
The butterflies are dancing
The flowers are talking
The wind is gently blowing
The skies are blue
People are playing
The smell of honeysuckles
is in the air
Boats are floating
Fish are jumping
Kids are splashing
Bees are buzzing for nectarines
The days are longer
The nights are shorter
Summer it is full of life!

THE ABANDONED SCOTTISH VILLAGE OF GARENIN: A PLACE WHERE TOURISTS CAN EXPERIENCE LIFE IN THE MIDDLE AGES

Garenin  is a crofting township found on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Garenin is in the Carloway municipality and has a population of about 80 people. Garenin is also within the parish of Uig. Today the village is most famous for the "blackhouse village", which consists of nine restored traditional thatched cottages. The village is found at the end of the Garenin road beside the village bay. These houses were lived in till 1974 and were the last group of blackhouses to be inhabited in the Western Isles.

In 1989, Urras nan Geàrrannan (The Garenin Trust) was established to restore the houses. Over a decade later the project was complete and the restored blackhouse village was opened by Princess Anne.

The blackhouse village is managed by Gearrannan Village Ltd. There was a Youth Hostel (managed by The Gatliff Trust) but this closed in May 2011. There are four self-catering cottages, a museum (a blackhouse set in 1955) and a resource centre; a café and a small gift shop are open in summer.

FEEL OF NATURE - by Bhupesh Phoolara

FEEL  OF  NATURE

by   Bhupesh Phoolara

Feel the peace, which you find in nature.
Positive atmosphere which gives you more pleasure.

Feel the golden morning and the energetic sunrise.
The dark night and the moon changing its shape and size.

Feel the winds that pass through your ears.
Just relax and forget all of your fears.

Feel the morning with chirpings of the birds.
Let them greet you; just try to understand their words.

Feel each and every drop of heavy rain.
This will help you in every pain and strain.

Feel the shimmering leaves of the trees.
Stay calm and say goodbye to all your worries.

Feel the clouds that independently wander in the sky.
Happiness is also like them - sometimes low and sometimes high.

BEAUTY AND THE BEACH - by Faith Elizabeth Brigham

BEAUTY  AND  THE  BEACH

by  Faith Elizabeth Brigham

there is something about the ocean
that brings out the earth-mother in me
it is a place I love to go to write or
to ponder life's mysteries
being out in the ocean with
the waves spraying over me
feels something of a baptism
a cleansing of my soul's debris

the beach has a magnificent beauty
that never ceases to amaze me
and makes me feel one with the earth
in rhythmn and harmony
I realize as I look out to sea
how very small I really must be
in the overall scheme of things

I love the sea for it brings
out the spirituality in me
the feeling of being totally free
like seagulls overhead and
the sand underneath my feet
or the engulfing sun warming me
to get down to the nitty-gritty
the sea is a poet's paradise to me.

RELAXATION - by Polette

RELAXATION

by  Polette

The wind blows
I breathe deeply
I close my eyes so tight
I can barely see light
It feels as if I float in thin air
It's relaxing, it's refreshing
It's peace, it's nature
It's as if I can fly
And never die...

A SMOOTH BEACH - by Chase

A   SMOOTH BEACH

by  Chase

Waves continuously wash away footprints,
Like time washes away, leaving you with a clean slate.
A smooth beach.
Waves wash away the good and bad.
Waves and time don't discriminate.
All encompassing,
Everything returns to the ocean.
It's just a matter of time
Before you're washed away.

SONGBIRD - by Pamela Griffiths

SONGBIRD

by  Pamela  Griffiths

Listening to the songbird
The heavenly sounds reverb
Sounds expressing lover’s thoughts
The songbird must be conserved

Singing with its warbling cry
The songbird sings of love
Filling the air with music
From a lovebird or a dove

Magical moments created
From a songbird in a tree
Two lovers hear the chorus
The songbird sings for free

Nature’s enchantment is working
Love is in the air
The bird has acted like Cupid
Now the love is everywhere

People look up to the trees
Sweet chirping can be heard
Melodic tunes of love and hope
All thanks to the lovely songbird
