THE MIRROR OF LIFE - by Mavis Jackson

THE  MIRROR  OF  LIFE

by   Mavis Jackson

In the mirrors of life, I see
Reflections shining back at me;
I am like a nomad drifting,
The sands of time they keep shifting,
Always moving on,
Fading, fading, gone.

I am losing to the past
I realise that nothing lasts
Forever.
I am choosing to wear masks,
Disguise the truth and no one asks
Me whether

I really feel it’s been worthwhile,
I conceal the lost child
Inside
And I’m abusing memories
When I am choosing histories
To hide.

The facts I really can’t deny.
With honesty I must reply,
I see
On mirrors I cannot rely
For youth no longer applies
To me.

I am learning at long last,
To burn the bridges from my past,
They’re gone.
I’m yearning for the shadows cast
To fill with light and fade fast
Move on.

In the mirrors of life, I see
Reflections shining back at me;
I am like a nomad drifting,
The sands of time they keep shifting,
Always moving on,
Fading, fading, gone.
