IGNORANCE - by HM Gruendler-Schierloh

IGNORANCE

by HM Gruendler-Schierloh

I hear the music from the lake
and close my ears in fear.
The sound is new and different
and I don’t like it near.

I feel the rhythm from the land
and sense a strong disgust.
That rhythm I don’t want know,
yet realize – I must.

I see a symbol in the sky
through my tear-filled eyes.
Its message I can’t understand
and don’t want its advice.

I heard, I felt, at last I saw,
and yet, I missed my chance.
It is the fear to learn again
that saved my ignorance.
