FORGIVE THE THORNED ROSE - by Jacinda G. Hayes

FORGIVE  THE  THORNED  ROSE

by Jacinda G. Hayes

It began... simple, innocent-
It grew.
As the rose to the ground
I attached to you

My lie; a thorn-
peircing to the heart.
Draining all blood,
from our innocent start.

You can cry:
Every Rose is thorned.
Or rejoice:
By a Rose a thorn is adorned.

The thorn protects Rose.
My lie protected me.
Harboring Rose.
Allowing me to flee.

Flee from the fear,
of getting hurt.
Harboring- no harm comes to Rose,
if she remains in dirt.

I am Rose- many a thorns,
thorns I cannot hide:
Navigate around them,
to reach my heart inside.
