The Dutch illustrator and artist, Theo, was educated at the Academy of Arts in Arnhem, where he attended a course on design, painting and art history. He graduated in 1974, worked as an illustrator, author and designer, author and designer-presenter of radio and television programmes.
Working mainly with acrylics, the artist paints his paintings spontaneously, preferring to distance himself from his naturalistic graphic style, which strictly corresponds to reality in the image of the subject. Seduced by the symbolism and the Art Nouveau movement (late 19th-early 20th centuries), surrealism (20th century) and mosaics of the Roman era, Theo treats his subject with respect, giving it a symbolic and mysterious dimension, always integrated into everyday surroundings, subtly and richly decorated, decorated with relatively warm shades.
