Butterflies harass the local flowers
as ants enjoy a summer picnic feast.
The honeybees, with diligence, devour
the amber drops of pollen they released.
The swollen grapes hang bursting in the sun;
such cultivars seek pleasure in the rays.
So ripe and sweet... alas, their almost done;
their juices mellow with those summer days.
So soon the light from Sol is sinking low.
It steals from summer all of passion's heat.
But when the season takes her final stroll,
the magic touch of summer is complete.
The wines of summer warm a winter’s night
and honey's gold will sweeten with delight.
