FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL - by Ginny Bryant

FOR  SOMEONE  SPECIAL

by  Ginny Bryant

Days may come and days may go
They never seem the same
Some are bright and sunny
And some are filled with rain.

Whenever life seems unfair
And time you'd like to stop
That's when you need to think a bit
Be thankful for what you've got.

You are so very fortunate
You have loving family and friends
That lift your spirits when needed
As each new day begins

So when your life seems shadowed
Lift your eyes to Heaven and pray
For help in whatever need you have
Let Him touch your heart today.

This is a special greeting
Full of love and prayers too
Because you are a special friend
And because I do love you.

God Bless You !

HELP YOURSELF TO HAPPINESS - by Helen Steiner Rice

HELP  YOURSELF  TO  HAPPINESS

by Helen Steiner Rice

Everybody, everywhere
seeks happiness, it's true,
But finding it and keeping it
seem difficult to do.

Difficult because we think
that happiness is found
Only in the places where
wealth and fame abound.

And so we go on searching
in palaces of pleasure
Seeking recognition
and monetary treasure,

Unaware that happiness
is just a state of mind
Within the reach of everyone
who takes time to be kind.

For in making others happy
we will be happy, too.
For the happiness you give away
returns to shine on you.

MY CITY - by Heather June Gibbons

MY  CITY

by Heather June Gibbons

It’s drippy here, and the crows are mean.
They zero in on loose threads, snatch
babies right out of mothers’ hands.
Swoop and snatch, just like that.

People here are falling badly in the streets.
They don’t understand that falling is an art
you can never get better at. They turn
inside-out, though none are reversible.

Me, I’d rather hold a fish to my brow
for a little relief and do a proper fall
that bruises the sky’s knees or switch
the lights on in the glass room and yell

Dance, dance, dance! Instead,
the mayor tells people to just hold tight
and most of them do. In this city, only
the really bad ones glow in the dark.

LOVE AND BEAUTY - by Aufie Zophy

 LOVE  AND  BEAUTY

by  Aufie Zophy

The universe has given me a million flowers
Just for me to see and smell and adore
Perhaps there were many more
That is something I am truly grateful for

I enjoyed a thousands of friendship hours
Lovely, touching my heart and my soul's core
Perhaps there were many more
That is something I am truly grateful for

Oh my God in this big universe
In love and beauty, we are immersed
All we have to do is open our heart and mind
Beauty, love and friendship for all of humankind

SUMMER - by James G.

SUMMER

by James  G.

Summer is warm and full of life
The birds are singing
The butterflies are dancing
The flowers are talking
The wind is gently blowing
The skies are blue
People are playing
The smell of honeysuckles
is in the air
Boats are floating
Fish are jumping
Kids are splashing
Bees are buzzing for nectarines
The days are longer
The nights are shorter
Summer it is full of life!

THE ABANDONED SCOTTISH VILLAGE OF GARENIN: A PLACE WHERE TOURISTS CAN EXPERIENCE LIFE IN THE MIDDLE AGES

Garenin  is a crofting township found on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Garenin is in the Carloway municipality and has a population of about 80 people. Garenin is also within the parish of Uig. Today the village is most famous for the "blackhouse village", which consists of nine restored traditional thatched cottages. The village is found at the end of the Garenin road beside the village bay. These houses were lived in till 1974 and were the last group of blackhouses to be inhabited in the Western Isles.

In 1989, Urras nan Geàrrannan (The Garenin Trust) was established to restore the houses. Over a decade later the project was complete and the restored blackhouse village was opened by Princess Anne.

The blackhouse village is managed by Gearrannan Village Ltd. There was a Youth Hostel (managed by The Gatliff Trust) but this closed in May 2011. There are four self-catering cottages, a museum (a blackhouse set in 1955) and a resource centre; a café and a small gift shop are open in summer.
